The Road to Hana is one of the most popular tourist attraction in Maui. It is a 64.4-mile long highway stretch which connects Kahului with the town of Hana in east Maui and passes through lush, tropical rain-forest along the ocean. It takes about 2.5 hours to drive from Kahului to Hana when no stops are made as the highway is very winding and narrow and passes through around 60 bridges.
There are many waterfalls and attractions that can be found along the way to Hana including Wailua Falls near the Seven Sacred Pools in Ohe’o. Some of the attractions lie within private property and will often have no trespassing signs posted but all the beaches in Hawaii are public.
This trip is worthwhile both for the stunning drive and to see the town itself which is relatively cut off from the rest of the island and has maintained more of a traditional Hawaiian culture than other towns.
