Prague Castle is the largest ancient castle in the world which is located in the capital of the Czech Republic. The castle was built in 9th century and it is the official residence of the President of the Czech Republic. It is one of the most visited tourist attraction in Prague. More than 1.8 million people visit the castle each year.
The castle was built for Prince Borivoj of the Premyslid Dynasty and was a seat of power for Bohemia kings, Holy Roman emperors and presidents of Czechoslovakia. The castle is truly enormous however, the look of the castle changed through significant and ongoing repairs and reconstructions over the time. It consists of a large-scale composition of palaces and surrounding buildings of various architectures. Romanesque-style buildings from the 10th century through Gothic modifications of the 14th century.
